“I know that the most joy in my life has come to me from my violin."
- Albert Einstein
An avid educator, Nicholas Hatt began teaching at the age of 18 and finds no greater joy than inspiring his students by helping them achieve their goals. His own teachers from university studies have left him with a strong passion for teaching. Nicholas' pedagogical lineage extends from great violinists such as Dorothy DeLay, Fredell Lack, Jascha Heifetz, Louis Persinger, Henryk Szerying, and Eugène Ysaÿe, and his unique style of teaching violin bears influence from the finest teachers of the 21st century.
Nicholas received his Doctor of Music degree from Florida State University, where he served as a teaching assistant to Dr. Shannon Thomas. He is now based in Tallahassee, Florida, where he is building a private studio, in addition to his performance schedule around Florida and Georgia. In addition, he is on faculty at Oklahoma City University, Northwest Florida State College, and the Emerald Coast Chamber Music Festival and Institute. He has taught internationally and maintained U.S. virtual students from across Colorado, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, New Mexico, New York, Nevada, Texas, and Virginia. He has additionally taught internationally and worked with students from Australia, Canada, and Mexico.
Virtual and in-person students become successful violinists, often winning top chairs in school orchestras and winning auditions in both youth and professional orchestras alike. Former students of Dr. Hatt have been accepted into reputable music programs for violin, such as the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, Longy School of Music of Bard College, Florida State University, Pennsylvania State University, University of New Mexico, University of North Florida, and West Virginia University.
